Strengthening Our Foundations to Propel the SPLM Towards Victory at SPLM Leadership Summit (Day Two)

July 3, 2026

The SPLM Leadership Summit progressed into its second day, driven by the core mission of "Transforming SPLM Vision into Action." Under the distinguished leadership of our First Deputy Chairman, Cde. Prof. James Wani Igga, and Second Deputy Cde. Mary Apai Ayiga, joined by our able Secretary General, Cde. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit, and his First Deputy, Cde. Kuong Danier, as we took definitive steps to consolidate our political future, ensuring our members across the country are fully engaged and unified.

The proceedings were defined by a deep dive into the backbone of our movement. Cde. Prof. James Wani Igga delivered a comprehensive lecture on the architecture of our SPLM Congresses and the upcoming 3rd National Convention. His presentation laid out a bold vision for structural optimization, strengthening the functional efficacy of our party organs from the grassroots up, providing robust support to our vital youth, women, and specialized leagues, modernizing our party operations to meet the demands of a dynamic political landscape, and establishing sophisticated campaign planning mechanisms to ensure victory in the upcoming general elections.

Building upon these structural foundations, our Secretary General, Cde. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit, provided critical insights into the internal mechanisms of our party’s democratic processes. During the session, Dr. Kordit highlighted the resolution passed in 2021 regarding the endorsement of H.E. Cde. Salva Kiir Mayardit as the sole flag bearer of the SPLM in the upcoming general elections, confirming that this resolution will be tabled before the upcoming National Convention for formal adoption following the conclusion of our party congresses. This reaffirms our steadfast position and signals a movement moving forward with singular focus and determination.

Day Two served as a powerful reminder that the SPLM is not merely a political organization, but a movement in constant evolution, positioning itself to translate our historical vision into tangible, future focused action.
