SPLM SG Reaffirms Party's Readiness for the Upcoming Elections at (AYA) Leadership Transition Ceremony
July 25, 2026
The SPLM Secretary General, Cde. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit, attended Apaak Youth Association (AYA) Official Leadership Transition Ceremony as the Guest of Honour, celebrating the milestones achieved under the core belief of "Equality and Decent Life For All". The atmosphere was made even more special by the wonderful turnout of esteemed friends and supporters of the association. The event was gracefully attended by the Patron of the day, Cde. Lt. Gen. Rin Tueny Mabor, SPLM Member of Political Bureau, along with the Chief Guest, Hon. Cde. Atong Kuol Manyang, National Minister of Youth and Sports.
Dr. Kordit offered inspiring wisdom to the newly inducted leaders, reminding them that a true leader must remain close to the people and the community, actively listening to their challenges, emphasizing that one cannot be a successful politician without genuinely serving the people, while encouraging the youth leaders to uphold unwavering values of integrity, honesty, physical fitness, and sharpness to stand as exemplary role models in society.
Transitioning to the broader national landscape, the SPLM Secretary General reiterated that elections are fast approaching. With all necessary administrative and legal procedures met, and following President Salva Kiir Mayardit signing the key amendments to de-link the constitutional making process and the conduct of the census as post-election agendas, the country is now legally clear to proceed toward elections. Noting that the National Election Commission has announced the launch of national civic and voter education this coming Monday, July 27, urging everyone to get ready to participate, emphasizing that it is a vital opportunity to exercise democratic rights, elect leaders of choice, and hold them accountable.
The Secretary General further called upon all SPLM members to register at their respective State Secretariats or the National Secretariat to stay prepared for upcoming primaries and congresses spanning the Boma, Payam, County, State, and National levels. Such participation is essential to qualify for SPLM candidacy in the upcoming general elections, echoing the fundamental principle for which the liberation struggle was fought, empowering citizens to become first class decision makers who freely vote for their leaders and representatives.
Reaffirming the party's unified vision, he proudly stated that for the SPLM, the sole candidate for the upcoming December General Elections is none other than our chairman, His Excellency Comrade Salva Kiir Mayardit.
Reflecting on the day's uplifting theme, "Together we build, together we prevail," attendees and organizers highlighted how wonderful it was to see community members come together to celebrate friendship, unity, and a bright future. Hosted at the vibrant Nyakuron Cultural Centre, the day was a true celebration reflecting "A legacy of Service, A Future of Impact".
The highlight of the gathering was the joyful transition of leadership from the dedicated outgoing chairperson, Hon. Daniel Majok Gang, to the enthusiastic incoming chairperson, Hon. Sunday Mayor Maker.
The community spirit was further enriched by the presence of beloved elders and special guests, including community leader Hon. David Deng Athorbei, community elder H.E Prof. Moses Machar Kachuol, along with Eng. Buom Makur Thou, Hon. Kawaja Kau Madol, and Hon.
