SPLM SG Outlines New Strategic Policy Framework for 2026 - 2031 on Day Three of SPLM Leadership Summit

July 4, 2026

The Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) continued its leadership summit today in Juba, marking a pivotal moment in the party’s organizational evolution and preparation for the nation’s future. The session was steered by the SPLM Third Deputy Chairman, Cde. Simon Kun Pouch; the SPLM Secretary General, Cde. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit; and the First Deputy Secretary General, Cde. Kuong Danhier Gatluak.

Building upon the formal adoption of the Strategic Policy Framework on April 22, 2026, by the Chairman H.E. Cde. Salva Kiir Mayardit, the proceedings today included a presentation by the SPLM Institute for Strategic Studies (SISS).

Describing the initiative, Dr. Kordit noted that the policy framework is a strategic and scientific paper put together by the SPLM Think Tank. He emphasized that this five-year strategic roadmap, serves to guide national governance and development.

The summit saw the party leadership transition into group discussions focused on critical matters of governance and politics, economy and resource management, peace, security and defence, and service delivery. As detailed in the documentation from the proceedings, the framework proposes a comprehensive restructuring of the party.

The strategy prioritizes rigorous economic reform, including improvements to resource management, public investment, and the refinement of national budgeting processes. Central to this vision is the "Fifth Pillar," which mandates targeted advancements in basic social services, specifically health, education, social protection, and water and sanitation.

The framework also establishes a "Sixth Pillar" dedicated to infrastructure modernization, encompassing transportation, energy, and digital communication, alongside a commitment to environmental and climate resilience. These initiatives are complemented by strategic focus areas regarding food security and the sustainable development of the wildlife and tourism sectors. As the summit progresses, the leadership remains focused on translating this endorsed framework into actionable policy to ensure the party's vision is fully realized..
