August 17, 2026
The SPLM Secretary General, Cde. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit, received a high-level delegation from the Nile Commercial Bank (NCB) SPLM Cell, led by the Bank’s Managing Director, Hon. Cde. Osama Mohamed Bilal Madit, SPLM Cell Leader at the NCB, Cde. Jokino Okon. The delegation formally congratulated Cde. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit for his well-deserved appointment as the SPLM Secretary General, marking a dynamic milestone in rallying the party's foundational supporters and strengthening institutional synergy as the nation prepares for the upcoming December elections.
During the meeting, the delegation shared the proud history of the NCB SPLM Cell, which dates back to 2008. Demonstrating absolute readiness to support the party as we entered the upcoming period, the cell confirmed their active participation in the party's registration drive, successfully registering 74 dedicated members within Juba who stand fully prepared to serve the SPLM at any moment.
Reflecting on the enduring legacy of the liberation struggle, SPLM Secretary General Cde. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit emphasized that the SPLM serves as the foundational pillar of the Republic, where every village and family across South Sudan are shareholders in the nation's future. He highlighted that the movement remains a historic force that permanently transformed Sudan and continues to stand as an unstoppable force to be reckoned with.
Furthermore, Comrade Secretary General underscored the proud history of the Nile Commercial Bank as an authentic SPLM financial institution originally established in the liberated areas to drive economic growth, build the national banking system, achieve social justice and solidarity, and reflect the party's core ideals, with early branches rooted in Yambio and Rumbek prior to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA).
Addressing the gathering, comrade Dr. Kordit underscored critical priorities moving forward, to consolidate internal unity, empower the party base, and robustly counter negative activities directed against the party and the country. The party reassures the public that the SPLM, the historic liberator of South Sudan remains uniquely capable, resilient, and fully equipped to advance the nation's future during this pivotal moment to restore the path and rebuild our nation.
This inspiring visit sets a shining example for other institutional and community cells to step up, organize, and actively participate in the party's ongoing mobilization. The SPLM warmly welcomes all incoming cadres and maintains an open-door policy for cooperation, inviting all patriotic citizens and groups to join the movement as we march forward to secure a decisive victory at the polls.
The meeting was attended by Cde. Baba Medan Konyi, SPLM Deputy Secretary General for Admin and Finance and Cde. Emmanuel Yol, SPLM Secretary for Economic Planning.
