SPLM SG Commends Jonglei State Leadership for Advancing Peace and Security
August 10, 2026
The Secretary General of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) met with the Jonglei State Chairperson today at the Plaza to receive an official briefing on regional developments, governance, and stability.
During the meeting, the Secretary General expressed appreciation to the leadership for their rigorous monitoring of the state. Discussions heavily emphasized that the administration's primary objective remains the stabilization of security, the containment of communal conflicts, and the realization of enduring peace and stability across Jonglei State.
Reflecting on local engagement, the Governor has successfully conducted eleven direct consultative meetings with youth leaders, women, and traditional chiefs to champion healing and reconciliation, indicating that these concerted community engagements have drastically reduced hostility, leaving security forces to contend primarily with isolated criminalities.
Applauding these milestones, the SPLM Secretary General commended Comrade Riek Gai's performance as a true reflection of effective governance. The administration continues to successfully operationalize core SPLM policies by bringing essential services directly to the grassroots through the structural reorganization of payams and administrative units, successfully cultivating a culture of communal forgiveness and unity.
The meeting concluded with the participation of other senior officials, including the Minister of Youth and Assistant Secretary for Political Affairs, Hon. Tong Chorom Yaru, and Minister of Finance Donge Gai Donge.
