The high-profile proceedings were graced by the presence of high-ranking party leadership, led by SPLM Third Deputy Chairman Cde. Simon Kun Pouch. Also in attendance were members of the SPLM Political Bureau and National Liberation Council, SPLM Secretary General Cde. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit, SPLM Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs, Mobilization and Organization Cde. Koang Danhier, SPLM Deputy Secretary General for Administration and Finance Cde. Baba Medan, alongside members of the National Secretariat and esteemed SPLM women representatives.
The high-level proceedings centered on reviewing the draft constitution, conducting essential amendments, and paving the way for the adoption of the League’s first ever governing constitution under the close supervision of the SPLM Secretary General.
The second day’s agenda featured critical milestones aimed at institutionalizing women’s leadership and charting a clear organizational roadmap. Proceedings began with delegates dividing into specialized constitutional-making groups to meticulously review the draft text before formally handing over the working documents to the general delegate body for final deliberation. This was followed by the official tabling of the SPLM Women’s League Five-Year Strategic Plan (2026–2031), establishing a forward-looking blueprint focused on empowerment, organizational growth, and active Socio-political participation.
A deeply inspiring Women Liberators panel session then spotlighted pioneering SPLM/SPLA women liberators, focusing on their monumental contributions across three vital pillars; humanitarian work, mobilization, and entrepreneurship. Day two concluded with robust, democratic plenary discussions that allowed delegates from various regions to voice perspectives, propose refined amendments, and align on core institutional values.
Party leadership praised the dedication and resilience of the delegates, emphasizing that a formalized constitution and a robust five year strategic plan are vital tools to institutionalize women's leadership within the SPLM and across South Sudan's broader political landscape. As the conference continues, delegates remain focused on finalizing amendments and ratifying the landmark constitution, marking a transformative milestone for the SPLM National Women's League
