Invitation to the 43rd Anniversary Celebration of the SPLM/SPLA
May 14, 2026
Dear Comrades, Fellow Compatriots,
As we approach a monumental milestone in the history of our nation, I would like to begin by extending my warmest and most revolutionary 16 May greetings to our Chairman, Comrade Salva Kiir Mayardit, the Chairman of the SPLM and President of the Republic. On behalf of the National Secretariat, we say: Happy 16 May, Comrade Chairman. I also wish to express our profound gratitude to all the media houses for their steadfast partnership with the SPLM National Secretariat in keeping our citizens informed.
On behalf of the leadership, it is my distinct honor to cordially invite all people of South Sudan residing in Juba, as well as our citizens across all states and administrative areas, to join us in celebrating the 43rd Anniversary of the formation of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army / Sudan People’s Liberation Movement. Many may ask why this celebration is so vital at this specific moment. Under the direct guidance and directive of our Chairman, the mandate of the National Secretariat is clear: to revive, reorganize, strengthen, and return the SPLM to its ultimate glory and might. True revival requires us to return to our roots, honor our past, and retrieve the foundational values that defined our liberation struggle. This anniversary is not just a commemoration; it is a renewal of our historic commitment to the people of South Sudan.
The main event will take place on Saturday, 16 May, at the Juba National Stadium. Assembly begins at 7:00 AM, with the formal program commencing at 8:00 AM. We have organized a spectacular array of cultural and celebratory activities that bring our heritage to life, including live performances by renowned national musicians and artists. Furthermore, elite giant wrestlers from Bor, Yirol, and Terekeka will converge for a thrilling live tournament. In a historic display of enduring strength, the heroic men and women who formed the SPLA/SPLM in the 1980s will participate in a special marathon and fast-walking competition, with official trophies awarded to the winners.
This will be a historic and spectacular day of national unity. We look forward to welcoming members of the Political Bureau, the National Liberation Council, the top leadership of the movement, executive organs, dedicated SPLM/SPLA cadres, and all members of the general public. Let us turn out in massive numbers to honor our heritage and march together toward a stronger future.
